Shari (Alfred) Bartholameu died of injuries sustained during a car-train accident at the University of Iowa Hospitals.
Shari was born in New Ulm, MN but had spent most of her life in Ft. Madison. She attended Richardson and Jefferson schools before going on to Ft. Madison Middle and High Schools. She was a member of the Madisonian (Yearbook) team.
Shari remained in Ft. Madison upon graduation and was married to Robert Bartholomeu on May 21, 1994 and had no children. She worked as a secretary at the Iowa State Penitentiary before her death.
Shari's parents Robert Jr. and Rosie currently live in the Donnellson area.
Cindy Kay Blint Shelnutt, 33, of Washington, died following a lengthy illness Saturday, Dec. 29, 2001, at her home near Washington.
Born Oct. 28, 1968, in Fort Madison, she was the daughter of Richard and Janet L. Morrett Blint. On June 4, 1992, she married Paul Shelnutt in Okinawa, Japan.
Mrs. Shelnutt was a 1987 graduate of Fort Madison High School and received her bachelor's degree from New Mexico State University. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Washington. She enlisted in the Air Force for six years and served as a fleet analyst. She and her husband moved to the Washington area in February 2000. She enjoyed counted cross stitch and scrapbooking.
Survivors include her husband; one son, Cole at home; one daughter, Breanna at home; her parents, Richard and Janet Blint of Denmark; two sisters, Jill Westercamp of Farmington and Holly Williams of Denmark; and her grandmother, Daisy Morrett of Fort Madison.
A celebration of life for Mrs. Shelnutt will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Washington, with the Rev. Mark Young officiating. Burial will be in Denmark Cemetery at a later date.
A memorial has been established for her children's education.
